about
Every now and then a moment or place in time has a way of lining up and resonating in such a way that you feel right in the pocket. Sometimes these little nuggets can seem elusive and spare, but you know it when they hit you. The song "I Must Be In A Good Place Now" took me to that place the first time I heard it on a back porch of a friend's house down in Decatur, Georgia. It transported me far away and slowed everything down as it spun. I love the place the lyrics and melody take the listener. The "sunshine-coming-through" images are forever framed in my mind.
Bobby Charles penned this song and released it on his eponymous long player album in 1972— the year i was born. I have played it live through the years, and it was in the running for my “I Hope I Know” album. I ended up choosing another one of Bobby's masterpieces, “Tennessee Blues,” as it seemed to gel more with the album's mood and tone. It was a hard decision to make because I was feeling what we'd captured. That said, I am stoked to finally share with you "I Must Be In A Good Place Now."
I hope you enjoy it and it takes you to that place.

lyrics
Wild apple trees blooming all around
I must be in a good place now
Sunshine coming through
A rainbow coloured sky
Paints pretty pictures in my mind
Oh what a good day to go fishing
And catch the sunset in the hills
And dream of my yesterdays and tomorrows
And hope that you'll be with me still
Saw a butterfly and named it after you
Your name has such a pleasant sound
Love is all around and all I see is you
I must be in a good place now
Oh what a good day to go fishing
And catch the sunset in the hills
And dream of my yesterdays and tomorrows
And hope that you'll be with me still
I saw a butterfly and I named it after you
Your name has such a pleasant sound
Love is all around and all I see is you
